Every Wednesday - through November - 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Hand drumming class - instructor: Cheri Bunker. Join us the third Wednesday of each month thru November for a fun and energizing one-hour free style hand drumming class for age 16 and older. No experience is needed—just an open heart and a willingness to play! In this freestyle drumming session, you’ll explore simple rhythms, express yourself through sound, and connect with others in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Whether you’re looking to boost your mood, improve coordination, or simply try something new, this class offers a joyful way to move, create, and be part of a rhythmic community. Stained Glass
April 13th+: Beginning Stained Glass Class - instructor: Nancy Zimmermann. This is a 5 week class on Monday evenings starting April 13th and running thru May 11th. 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Class size is limited to 10. Cost: $110 for LCAA members, $115 for non members. There is an additional supplies fee of $40. Pre-registration is required, and the instructor will reach out to you prior to class with information on selecting your design.

May 9th: It’s a Tea Party! Instructor: Cheri Bunker*. 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. $20 members, $25 for non-members. Come to a Tea & Wellness Experience with Cheri Bunker. Have you always wanted to know more about tea and its wellness benefits? Join Cheri Bunker for a relaxing and informative tea party exploring the art, ritual, and healing qualities of tea. Teas We’ll Explore: Green • Black • Yellow • White • Pu’er • Herbal • Matcha. Learn which teas support: Relaxation • Energy • Skin • Weight Balance • Focus • Mood • Natural Detox • Sleep • Immunity. Sip different teas as we talk about them and learn about tea ware, strainers, bamboo whisks, and loose leaf vs. tea bags. Stained Glass Garden Stake Class - Instructor Nancy Zimmermann. Saturday, May 16th. Sorry, this class is full - a 2nd class has been scheduled - see May27th! There will be no glass cutting required for this class but you will do foil wrapping as well as soldering.
Seed Art Class
Seed Art - instructors: father daughter team, Amy Saupe and Steve Saupe. Saturday, May 23rd from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Cost: $35 for LCAA members, $40 for non-members. Participants will learn techniques for creating a seed artwork, how to enter seed art in the MN State Fair, and then have the opportunity to create their own 4 x 6 inch seed work. Participants will take home a kit featuring about a half dozen of our favorite seeds and all the tools necessary to start seeding. Amy and Steve have been creating seed artworks since 2017. They have won multiple (14) ribbons for their work at the MN State Fair and are in the advanced class. They were finalists for the MN State Fair Commemorative Artist Award in 2023. Their work has been displayed at MSP Airport and was featured on a billboard used to promote the 2024 State Fair. More info to come. Class size is limited to 20. Preregistration is recommended, but walk-ins will be accepted if space is available.

Stained Glass Garden Stake Class - Instructor Nancy Zimmermann. Wednesday, May 27th, 5:30 - 9:00 pm. Cost: $70 for LCAA members, $75 for non-members. Brighten your outdoor space with a beautiful stoned glass garden stake. This is a beginner class…no prior experience necessary. There will be no glass cutting required for this class but you will do foil wrapping as well as soldering. Check out the LCAA corner window for an example of the finished product! Pre-registering required.
Scottish Scones & Stories
June 6th: Scottish Scones and Stories - Instructor Susie Spain with assistance from Karen Smith. Saturday, June 6th from 10:00 - 11:30 am. This is an Intergenerational Make and Take Cooking Class for ages 8 and up. Cost: $5.00 per participant, class size is limited to 24 participants
Join us for a delightful intergenerational cooking experience as Lake City Area Arts hosts a hands-on Scottish Scone Class. Participants of all ages will learn how to make traditional Scottish scones fried on a griddle while enjoying time together.
This class is designed to bring generations together—parents, grandparents, children, and friends—sharing stories, laughter, and the joy of preparing food together. Participants will learn simple techniques for mixing, shaping, and cooking traditional Scottish scones on a griddle, and then enjoy sampling the warm scones together. Plus, you’ll have a couple of extra scones to take home with you! No previous cooking experience is necessary. Come ready to learn, connect, and enjoy a taste of Scotland. All ingredients and supplies will be provided. This class is subsidized by a grant from the Greater Lake City Community Foundation.
